"If you ain't first, you're last."-Talladega Nights.
Just watched the UAAP cheerdance competition (actually UST at UP lang napanood ko) and I already knew UP wouldn't be able to get the 1st place again. Compared to the last two years na performance nila, hindi talaga maganda yung ngayon. I expected so much from the pep squad and thought UP would take home the grand slam this year.
And Renee's feeling was right. UP was 2nd runner up. Not even the 2nd placer.
Everyone knows how big an iskolar ng bayan's ego, how they walk chin UP. And I'm pretty sure this is deflated now. Second would never be acceptable.
I pondered, the second placer is the first loser. It is the first among the beaten, first to lose. Second placers will never get the spotlight. This maybe rude, but second place is the same as the last place. Still defeated. And I guess, better to be nothing than a second placer. 'Cause you may have the spotlight, but the spotlight of the first to lose.
It would always be like this: ain't first, you're nothing.
ok,..but still i find UP Pep routines original and creative.
